About a month after we moved we made the decision to let our girl Halle Cat outside…actually, truth be told, she made the decision for us. She was a very unhappy house cat…she snuck out one night and it wasn’t until morning we realized she was gone. So the decision was made – there was no way we were going to keep her in after that.
Halle was roughly one when we found her living under the back porch of our old apartment. At that time her only friend was a skunk…yep, you read that right. The two of them were quite comical really. Unfortunately, their friendship came to an abrupt end when the cat crossed the road and the skunk…well, he didn’t make it.
When we moved we assumed she would live a long and happy life as an indoor cat, but most likely being outside her entire life, we assumed wrong. She was born to be outside. It’s really wonderful to see her out there not a care in the world. Sleeping in the sun shine or just watching the world go by – it’s a reminder to stop and enjoy the world around us. Drink it in. Take the time to smell the roses. Outside she is free…chipmunks beware!
