When I think of my fantasy garden one thing comes to mind, Beatrix Potter. Oh, how I’ve longed to live in her garden and see the world through her eyes. For as long as I can remember, I’ve thought what a wonderful place it would be to live in an English country garden, with Peter Rabbit, and be a part of her infamous tales.
Silly, I know. But, if we let go of all our childhood spirit what really is the point of living? To be an ‘adult’ all the time is simply boring. Being young at heart is a gentle reminder to let our imaginations run wild every so often. It is good for the soul.
“The English garden depends on grace and charm rather than grandeur and formal structure”.
Why I love English gardens so? There’s almost something magical about them. Surreal. And you feel like you’ve just found a secret garden. Everything just so whimsical.
You can feel the history of it all. Feel the passion.
And the use of colours and textures, like an impressionist painting. Delightful!
Just thinking of it all makes me want to re-evaluate my gardening strategies and strive for my fantasy garden. Is it really all that difficult to bring fantasy to life? We already have a rabbit named Peter! I feel a chance may be in our future.

I see your childhood collection of Beatrice Potter has had the effect I’m sure your mother intended for you! Do you still have your collection?

oh it is not silly! I am with you on the English garden and living like peter rabbit :-) I love the idea of little animals running around with their own stories in the garden. To me the perfect garden is one that reflects an Impressionistic painting….
