Sidetracked

February 23, 2014November 29, 2021 / Janet, a girl and a garden. / 4 Comments

This morning I sat down to do a little blogging and turned on Netflix for a little background noise...and I was totally sidetracked! In the 'recommend for us' portion was a short film called Moving Art: Flowers (by Louie Schwartzberg). If you haven't seen it you really should check it out! I was mesmerized. Any description … Continue reading Sidetracked

GWG#5: What does your garden sound like?

February 7, 2014November 29, 2021 / Janet, a girl and a garden. / 4 Comments

One of my favourite things to do is sit on the back porch and just listen. Especially on a Sunday morning before 9 am…that’s when the trains start to run for the day. So soothing. So serene. Joy at its finest!Since it’s the dead of winter, and not much is happening out there right now, … Continue reading GWG#5: What does your garden sound like?

My Dearest Gay, Just a little note to say thank you - thank you for all your gardening help and inspiration over the years. You may not know this but you are my mentor in the gardening department. Hey there and good morning to you! So excited to have had 500 visitors! Thanks a bunch :)

Did you see that?

Every once in a while something cooler than regular old crates roll down the tracks. Windmills! No blades this time. Did I mention we lived close to the tracks?

Just a small-town girl living on love ( & song lyrics) and growing vegetables, making jams and raising chickens.

Working on slow living and just taking it all in; after all, we only get one kick at the can, right?

I spend the majority of my time spicing up our old farmhouse and trying to convince my husband to buy me a goat. Just a wee one.

Life is good.

Happy solstice! Cheers to the warm scents of a simmer pot and longer days ahead.
