The Ultimate Re-Tweet

A few weeks ago I was feeling rather bored so I decided to head on down to the basement to sort through an old box of gardening magazines I had kicking around. I figured I’d save myself some money and re-read old issues of Canadian Gardening, which I subscribe too, rather than go and buy more. I hauled the box upstairs and started to sort through…knowing that I had saved a few issues but not knowing how many. The weight of the box should have been my first indication. Pulling out issue after issue I realized I had a full collection, not one missing, all the way back to spring 2006! That’s 8 years worth of Canadian Gardening! That would also mean that I’ve been subscribing to the magazine since I was 25 (sidebar: I was 25 eight years ago?!?! Man, where did that time go?!)

Sorting all the issues by year, cause I’m geek like that, I decided to take a picture and Tweet @CDNGardening about my latest find. They replied, they favorited my post, I favorited their reply…there was a whole lot of favouriting going on!

And that was that…or so I thought…

Monday the latest issue of CG arrived in the mail and since it’s tax season I wasn’t able to read it right away which I normally do (because for the next 7 weeks all I’ll really be doing is sleeping and working…and hopefully a little blogging). Then to my surprise Tuesday night I was home before 10pm so I decided to take the new issue to bed and give it a once over before I went to sleep.

Well holy Dina, seven pages in I jumped clear out of bed with sheer excitement! (and a minor heart attack for Dan). There it was, in all it’s glory…MY tweet, picture name and all, published in a magazine! I could hardly believe it! It was the ultimate re-tweet! Words really can’t express how happy I was at that very moment! And of course before I went to sleep, I had to share the news with all my social media friends: FB, Twitter and Instagram.

But try sleeping after that…

The next day first thing I called my Mom, then Gay of course, and told them the exciting news. Gay is a subscriber as well and she hadn’t read her new issue yet either, she was just as excited. I emailed my bestest friend Lisa (ya, I make up words) and at the end of her elated reply she included “As a magazine reader you make me proud XLisa”. I took my magazine to work and showed all the ladies in our office; I could hardly contain myself and really had to restrain from telling every client I had that day! I even took it to my bank appointment and shared it with my personal banker, Stacey!

I was filled with joy; what a wonderful experience to have happen!

So if you’re out and about and you happen to see a copy of Canadian Gardening (April 2014 issue) you’ll see me on page 7 in the feedback area. Thanks again @CDNGardening! I will forever be a #loyalreader.

Feel free to add your two cents! Love to hear it!
