That’s right, cuss!

All our eggplant, pepper and tomato plants died from the frost Friday night/Saturday morning. All 33 of them! 4 eggplant, 7 tomato and 22 pepper. Even after I wrapped them all individually with burlap and love. Cuss!

It’s the tomato plants I’m most upset over really. We made a special trip down to Vicki’s Veggie, in Prince Edward County, to purchase plants that produce tomatoes lovely for pickling. And now they’re gone :(

The silver lining? The frost didn’t come close to touching the other 32 pepper plants I have growing in the house! HA!

With that said, it’s still quite frustrating. But lesson learned. Going forward we’ve decided garden planting will no longer happen prior to June 1. Just to be safe.

p.s. all the sumac seems to have died too…but that we’re not upset about!
