Our Summer Solstice Girl

According to the Farmers Almanac the word “solstice” comes from Latin solstitium – from sol (sun) and stitium (still or stopped), reflecting the fact that on the solstice, the Sun appears to stop “moving” in the sky as it reaches its northern point for the year, as seen from Earth.

June 21, 2015, the day our little girl was born the earth most definitely stood still. And since then it’s whipped into overdrive because today, sniffle sniffle, she turns five!

Happy birthday to our sweet and sassy little strawberry fields girl. You came into our world with a bang and we’ve loved every minute of it.

Here are some special things we love about our girl:

  • The way she says ‘pasagne’ (lasagne) just to bug daddy
  • Her chicken catching skills, always impressive
  • How much she loves to read and be read to, and make up new stories as we go
  • Her infectious laugh – sweet and raunchy all at the same time
  • The love she has for Star Trek, she’s daddy’s Trekkie girl
  • That she sits in her rocking chair, on the back deck, and sings (Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding
  • That she headbangs to Boston (and sometimes air guitar)
  • That she knows all the words to Yellow Submarine
  • That she still likes to be rocked out at bedtime (“But not like a baby Mommy!”)
  • That she loves to build things whether it be puzzles or lego
  • That her big imagination is always working!

She is the best little sidekick a mom could ask for, and the best at pushing my buttons too (even better than daddy!). But I wouldn’t change a thing!

Happy birthday, Chickadee. Always be you!

P.S. Happy Father’s Day to all the Daddies out there!

Feel free to add your two cents! Love to hear it!
