Great photos! I am so excited you got a picture of a “Pileated woodpecker”!!!!!! This is a my story,I have to share-because you have evidence I needed for my neighbors did not believe me. In 2009, my dog, Buddy passed. We had five dogs and he was the leader of the pack. He was our first rescue dog-well, after he passed I was sitting at home the next day and I saw the most amazing bird( pileated woodpecker”) going up and down a tree in my neighbors backyard. I had never seen one like it before…well, you can guess the rest of the story-Myneighbors had never seen one either. Nobody believed me-but I saw this woodpecker!
I have never seen one since. We live in an urban area but near woods by the river…they are rare he but they do come here.
My neighbor still kids me-Did you see the big woodpecker Robbie????-sure you did-lol….that is what I saw-It was not my imagination! Great photo of one:-)
